Multiple Shopping Lists: Don’t Mix Paint with Pasta

Stop scrolling past “Screws” to find “Milk.” PlateParrot lets you create separate lists for different needs—like one for the grocery store and one for the hardware store. Plus, with “Recurring Lists,” you can save your holiday meal plans and reuse them year after year with a single click.

The “Mega-List” Mess

You have one shopping list on your phone. It contains:

  • Ingredients for tonight’s dinner.
  • Lightbulbs you need to buy “someday.”
  • Items for the big birthday party next month.
  • A reminder to buy new socks.

When you are actually in the supermarket, this list is a nightmare. You are trying to focus on groceries, but your brain has to filter out the lightbulbs and socks constantly. It’s mental clutter. You end up scrolling up and down, missing the butter because it was sandwiched between “AA Batteries” and “Party Streamers.”

A List for Every Mission

PlateParrot lets you split your life into logical buckets. You can have your standard “Weekly Groceries” list for the routine run. But you can also create a separate “Hardware Store” list or a “Costco Run” list.

When you walk into the supermarket, you open the Grocery list. The batteries and socks disappear. You can focus entirely on food. When you head to the mall, you switch lists. It keeps your mind clear and ensures you don’t accidentally buy 500 napkins during your Tuesday milk run.

The Magic of “Recurring Lists”

Here is where it gets really smart. Some shopping trips happen again and again. Think about Christmas Dinner, your annual Camping Trip, or the monthly Office Restock.

Instead of typing in “Marshmallows” and “Paper Plates” every single summer, you create a Recurring List called “Camping.” You add your standard recipes and manual items once.

When the trip is over, you check everything off. But unlike a normal list, it doesn’t disappear. Next year, you simply hit “Reset,” and the entire list un-checks itself, ready for the next adventure. You never have to wonder “What did we forget last year?” ever again.

How It Works

Creating a new workspace is instant.

  1. Go to the Lists overview.
  2. Tap New List.
  3. Give it a name (e.g., “BBQ Party”).
  4. Optional: Mark it as “Recurring” if you plan to use it repeatedly.

You can now add recipes specifically to this list. If you add your “Chili” recipe to the “BBQ Party” list and scale it to 20 people, it won’t affect the “Chili” recipe in your “Weekly Dinner” list where you only need 4 portions.

FAQ

Can I move items between lists?

Yes. If you accidentally added “Milk” to your Hardware list, you can easily move it to your Grocery list.

Do recurring lists remember my manual items?

Yes. If you added “Firewood” manually to your Camping list, it stays there forever. When you reset the list, “Firewood” comes back as an un-checked item.

Can I delete a list when I’m done?

Of course. Once the “Birthday Party” is over, you can delete the list to keep your app tidy. The recipes themselves remain safe in your library.
