Delete your PlateParrot account / PlateParrot Konto löschen
Note: This English text is a non-binding convenience translation. The German version is the authoritative version; in the event of any discrepancy, the German version prevails.
This page belongs to the app PlateParrot, offered by Kenneth Weber, Mozartstraße 8b, 22083 Hamburg, Germany. It describes how to delete your PlateParrot account. You do not need an account for this and you do not have to sign in here.
Option 1: In the app, done immediately
If you still have the app on your device, this is the fastest way.
- Open PlateParrot.
- Tap Settings at the bottom.
- Open the Account section.
- Tap Delete account.
- Confirm with Delete permanently.
The deletion is carried out immediately, as soon as the confirmation reaches our server. There is no waiting period and no recycle bin. If the confirmation does not reach our server, the account remains and the app reports the failure to you.
Option 2: Without the app, by email
If you have already removed the app, write to us at [email protected] with the subject “Delete account”.
Important: send the message from the email address you used to create your account. That is the only way we can match the request to your account without asking you for further data. We cannot act on a request sent from a different address.
We will delete your account once your message arrives, and within 30 days at the latest.
What is deleted
- Your account with email address, username and, if you provided them, first and last name.
- Your recipes, shopping lists, items and your shopping history on our servers.
- Shared lists that belong to you. The invited members lose access, and the list disappears from their devices at their next synchronization.
- Your memberships in shared lists belonging to other people.
We cannot restore a deleted account.
What remains
- The data on your device. The deletion concerns our servers. Your recipes and lists remain on the device and can still be used without an account. Only content that is not yours is removed there: lists other people had shared with you, and other people’s recipes.
- Your contributions to other people’s shared lists. What you entered or changed in someone else’s list stays with that list, as otherwise another household would lose parts of its shopping list. The link to your account is removed in the process: your username is no longer visible, and the entry shows the note “from a deleted account” instead. Recipes, by contrast, belong to your account and are deleted with it, even if you had included them in someone else’s list.
- Data subject to a statutory retention obligation. It is blocked for the duration of the period and deleted afterwards.
The full details are set out in the privacy policy under “Retention Period and Deletion of Your Account”.
Back up first
After the deletion the copy on our servers is gone. As long as you still have the app, you can back up your recipes: Settings → Export recipes. This creates a file with all recipes, photos, folders and tags that you can read back in later. Shopping lists are not part of that file.
If you keep the app on your device, you do not need the export: your data remains there in any case.
Other pages
Was gelöscht wird
Was bleibt
